Description

Private (Pte) Dave Neville (left) and Pte Steve Ellis (right) and of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) take a break in their barracks accommodation, an unfinished 13 floor hotel next to the former Australian Embassy residence in Baghdad. Pte Neville is busy cleaning his rifle, while Pte Ellis is sewing a new name tag. During Operation Falconer, 2RAR formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. 2RAR operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
