Australian flag : C-130 (Hercules) Detachment, RAAF
Australian flag with white nylon binding and two brass eyelets along the hoist. The flag is made up of three sections and is sewn across the centre and down along the Union Jack. Each of the stars are machine stitched onto the flag. The corners of the fly are frayed from the wind and the flag is coated with dust.The front of the upper hoist is printed with the maker's details.
Australian flag flown by the RAAF C-130 (Hercules) Detachment to Operation Catalyst in Iraq from 10 November to 3 December 2003. The detachment was stationed at Tallil Air Base in Southern Iraq, 5 km south of Al-Nasariyah. On 8 December, Air Marshal Allan (Angus) Houston, Chief of Air Force, visted the base and the flag was presented to him by Wing Commander Peter Ward, Commander of TG6334.
