Description
Interior of the Australian War Museum, showing exhibits in the display cases showing the types of uniforms worn by 'Out of the Line'; 'The Junior Officer'; 'Able Bodied Seaman', 'Staff Nurse'; 'Light Horse Trooper'; 'The Raider'. The uniform 'Our of The Line' or 'Mud Man' was taken off Private (Pte) Giles by C E W Bean directly after Pte Giles emerged from the trenches. Mr Bean wanted to clearly show the mud that the soldiers had to endure in the trenches. The museum was sited in the Melbourne Exhibition Building for the opening on 25 April 1923.
