Description
Trench art outline map of Australia (less Tasmania) sent to his mother by a member of 2/5 Infantry Battalion, AIF. The timber map is is missing the top 1 cm of Cape York, and is hand painted in gold with the words 'XMAS A.I.F Greetings 1943 MOTHER Northern Territory LOVE VIN'. A small painted representation of a colour patch (red over black on a grey background) which appears to be an inverted representation of the 2/5 Battalion colour patch is in the centre of the map.
