Description

Detachable and swinging barrel cradle for the Flak 36, 8.8 cm dual purpose gun. The cradle is 'A' framed and designed to hold the barrel steady when the gun is being towed. There is a circular, hinging collar at the top, with a quick release and snap down locking mechanism fitted to it. The cradle bracing is made of tube steel and the collar made from flat plate rolled to fit the curve of the gun barrel. All the seams have been electrically welded. Two 32mm diameter, steel locating pins are fitted to the bottom of the 'A' frame, which are used to connect the cradle to the cruciform platform. The locating pins are held to the cradle by two light guage chains. The whole cradle is finished in Afrika Korps desert yellow.

This barrel cradle is an original fitting for the German 8.8 cm Flak 36 dual purpose gun. It was removed from the gun in 2003.
