Description
View inside store of guns and bullet proof jackets handed to, and confiscated by, locals during the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI), at Camp RAMSI near Honiara. RAMSI operated a firearms amnesty from 1 to 21 August 2003. 3,730 guns, including around 700 high-powered military-style weapons, and over 300,000 rounds of ammunition were handed in. Many of the arms were destroyed by members of Australia's 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment (3CER), deployed to the Solomon Islands as part of Operation Anode.
