Description

Unidentified members of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, (2RAR), walk on the beach at Kolina, a village on the remote Weather Coast of Guadalcanal. A police post was established at Kolina in August 2003, following the arrest of Isatabu militant leader Harold Keke, who had been based in the surrounding area. Infantry forming part of the multinational Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) provided military support to the post, and others along the Weather Coast. Australia’s contribution, Operation Anode, included soldiers from 2RAR, who formed part of the Army’s Ready Deployment Force, based in Townsville.
