A local child holds an information flyer, handed out by Captain Rachel Leal of 1st Intelligence Battalion, at the village of Sisifiu, in the northwest of Malaita. The flyer was produced by the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI), and states that “criminal investigations take time”. This is a reference to the multi-national Participating Police Force (PPF)’s investigation into crimes committed by former militant members, such as Jimmy ‘Rasta’ Lusibaea, leader of the Malaitan Eagle Force, and some police officers, on the islands of Guadalcanal and Malaita. Lusibaea was arrested on 15 October 2003. Logistical, intelligence and security support for the PPF was provided by the multi-national RAMSI military force, including Australian troops deployed under Operation Anode.
