Australian Army and Air Force aircrew from 171 Operational Support Squadron, 1st Aviation regiment, and 38 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, receive a flight briefing. They are standing around a map table at the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) base at Honiara International Airport. Left to right: two unidentified soldiers; Lieutenant Cullen and Lieutenant Wheeler, both of 171 Squadron, and soldier Gallagher. The former Henderson Field, established during the Second World War and a key location in the battle of Guadalcanal, was renamed Honiara International Airport in September 2003. It served as the principal Air Point of Departure for the RAMSI aviation forces, including RAAF and Australian Army Aviation forces deployed under Operation Anode. They provided reconnaissance, transport and medical evacuation support to the multi-national policing and military intervention.
