Description
Two Austeyr F88 rifles, resting on a folded camouflage jacket, on the tarmac at Honiara airport domestic terminal. The F88 is the standard rifle issued to Australian infantry, and features extensive use of composite materials. The rifles belonged to Australian troops returning from deployment to the Solomon Islands under Operation Anode, having provided security support to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI). They were awaiting quarantine clearance before joining a flight to Australia.
