Flying jacket : B Sanders, RAAF
Reversible nylon flying jacket with grey ribbing at the waist, wrists and neck. The jacket is closed with a metal zip in the centre with a slider on each side. The outside, or more commonly worn side, is an olive drab colour. This side of the jacket has shoulder straps secured with press studs and a plastic card holder on the left breast. The right breast has a patch of velcro for attaching a squadron emblem. Above the waist are two slanted internal pockets with flaps. There is a zippered external pocket on the upper right sleeve. The inside of the jacket is a bright orange with no markings or pockets.
Flying jacket as worn by Australian pilots during the 1970s. This jacket is associated with the service of William (Bill) Sanders. Sanders served with the Royal Australian Air Force, completing his career as Wing Commander.
