Dupont speaks of his background and early interest in photography; photographers who have influenced him; his career as a photojournalist, including trips to cover the Vietnamese withdrawal from Cambodia (1989), civil war in Sri Lanka (1990), civil war in Angola (1993), and Rwanda genocide (1994); the development of his photographic technique; awards he has won; his return to Australia in 2000; his decision to accept the Memorial commission; experiences as an official photographer; his relationship with the Australian military forces; observations on the relationship between Australian forces and the local people; taking panoramic photographs; black-and-white versus colour photography.
