An unidentified British officer releasing his hold on a Japanese war criminal as he falls to his death on the gallows in Changi Gaol. The trapdoor has just been released by the operator whose hands can be seen holding the lever to the right. Note the extra D bolt shackles to either side of the one being used, indicating that the gallows had the provision for multiple simultaneous executions. The condemned man has his hands tied behind his back, and is wearing all white, including a hood over his head.
