Group portrait taken outside the main entrance of Victoria Barracks situated on St Kilda Road. Known as A Block this part of the building was built between 1860s to 1970s. After the Federation of the Commonwealth in 1901, the Victoria Barracks was used by the Department of Defence as their headquarters. Identified in the centre of the front row is Major General Sellheim and Matron In Chief Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) Miss E Tracey Richardson. In the centre of the group are 17 female staff members of the Department of Defence.
