Description

Graves of four soldiers, who were serving with the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (AN&MEF)at the time of death and who died of malaria fever at Rabaul. The graves are, from left to right: 424 Acting Warrant Officer Frank Mason, of Portsmouth, England, of Tropical Horse F Coy, who enlisted on 7 December 1914 and died on 26 August 1918 aged 54 years; 2nd Lieutenant Frederick James Miller, who died on 16 February 1918 aged 37 years. He enlisted at Rabaul on 19 February 1917; 1039 Sergeant Thomas Johnson, of High Offley, England, who enlisted on 12 December 1916 and died 8 September 1917 aged 36 years; and 938 Sergeant Rowland James Wilson, of Sunderland, England, who enlisted on 25 June 1915 and died on 2 October 1918 aged 33 years.
