Graves of soldiers of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (AN&MEF). The majority of these soldiers also served with the AIF prior to their service with AN&MEF. Identified from left to right:- 1156 Private John James Wise, of Penrith NSW, who enlisted on 19 July 1917 died on 26 March 1919 aged 45 years; 1250 Private Alexander Smith, of London, England, who enlisted on 20 September 1917 and died on 1 August 1918 aged 50 years; 1234 Private George Marshall, born in Yorkshire, England, who enlisted on 28 January 1918 and died on 30 July 1918 aged 41 years; 959 Sergeant James Featherston, of Ballarat, Vic, who enlisted on 16 September 1915 and died on 30 July 1918 aged 42 years; and 497 Private (Pte) James Forbes, who died of malaria on 30 April 1918 aged 41 years. Pte Forbes was born in Alford, Scotland and enlisted on 19 December 1914 in the 3rd reinforcements of the AN&MEF.
