Studio portrait of 7753 Private (Pte) Eric Stanley Hoy, 13th Light Horse Regiment, of Sydney, NSW. A stockman in civilian life, Pte Hoy enlisted on 13 July 1915. He embarked for service overseas with 1 Australian General Hospital, and later transferred temporarily to the 5th Field Ambulance in April 1916. A month later he joined the 13th Light Horse Regiment as a batman. Pte Hoy remained with this unit, serving on the Western Front, until the end of the war. He embarked for return to Australia on 20 May 1919. Note the diamond shaped colour patch of the 13th Light Horse Regiment on Pte Hoy's uniform, and the chevrons denoting four years service on his right sleeve.
