Emergency Flying ration pack Type 0.2 : wax vesta tin
Description
Tin with a hinged lid and impressed striking plate stamped into base. Printed on the lid in green and blue is "BELL'S / WATERPROOF / WAX VESTAS". Inside are approximately 150 wax vesta matches, each about 27 mm long with a blue head. Included with the matches is a card, 16 x 68 mm on which is printed in red: "HELP THE WAR EFFORT / SAVE THIS TIN AND REFILL WITH / Bell's Waterproof Plaid Vestas / MADE IN AUSTRALIA." The tin was originally wrapped in greaseproof paper which has been torn to access the lid.
