Description

Rectangular Teleradio 5A transmitter and receiver unit. Manufactured by Amalgamated Wireless of Australasia Limited, it is finished in blue hammertone paint with a silver hammertone front panel. Fitted to the front panel are the following items: Two chrome plated steel grab bars; two frequency tuners, graded in megacycles, with black bakelite control knobs; a small loudspeaker with a protective mesh screen; a black bakelite four channel control switch, numbered '1, 2, 3, 4'; a black bakelite power switch, marked 'Off', 'Rec' and 'Trans Rec'; a signal strength meter; a black bakelite volume control; and a band selector, marked 'A', 'B' & 'C'. Fitted at the back of the unit is a white ceramic terminal for connection to an external antenna. An oval shaped microphone, finished in silver crackle paint with a red AWA badge, is connected to a clip mounted on the side of the unit. The interior can be accessed by releasing two side clips and appears to be complete. The antenna is not included.
