Description

Khaki cotton drill bib and brace overalls with one patch pocket on the left breast and another pocket on the lower right rear. Two straps attached at the back clip onto metal rings on the bib front and can be adjusted by metal buckles. There is a slit on either side of the waist which secure at the top with a button. A third strap is stitched across the front of the overalls at waist level. It extends out on the right side and can be place around the back of the overalls and attached on the left hip with a clip. Printed in ink on the cloth maker's label on the inside of the bib is 'N. 42 1943' and below this 'SIZE' with '18' hand written in ink. Printed under this is 'MADE IN AUSTRALIA'.

The history of these overalls are unknown. They are an example of the working uniform issued to members of the Australian Women's Land Army from 1942 to 1945.
