Description
Portrait of John Bice Redmond, as a boy of three years of age, standing next to a 24 pounder naval cannon (c 1780) owned by Sir John George Bice, his maternal grandfather. Redmond later served as VX141493 Lieutenant John Bice Redmond, 3rd Australian Army Transport Company (RAE) in the Second World War. The cannon dates from the Crimean War and was brought out to Australia from England on a ship, using the cannon balls as ballast on the ship.
