Studio portrait of NX73009 Private (Pte) Brian Hugh Rayson, 2/30th Infantry Battalion, of Glen Innes, NSW. Pte Rayson enlisted in Paddington, NSW on 16 April 1941 and initially served with the 8th Division Mobile Laundry. He was transferred to the 2/30th Battalion on 24 January 1942 and was taken prisoner of war (POW) following the fall of Singapore, on 15 February 1942. After being held at Changi, he was sent to Burma with F Force and died from illness at Tan Baya, on 24 November 1943, aged 23.
