An East Timorese boy sits on the kerb of a Dili street beneath a fallen sign and near a bicycle and telephone booth. Directly above him an unidentified Australian soldier is visible at a sandbagged sentry post. He is serving as part of the International Force for East Timor (INTERFET), an Australian led international mission to bring peace and stability to the former colony under a United Nations mandate.
