Description
Members of the 5th Reinforcements, 29th Battalion prior to boarding HMAT Anchises (A68). Identified (left to right, front row, seated) are: 2670 Private (Pte) George Leonard Jose of Geelong West, Victoria; 2634 Pte Joseph Thomas Fox of Geelong, Victoria; unidentified; unidentified. Pte Jose died at sea, of pneumonia, aged 23, on 8 February 1919 when returning to Australia, and was buried in Egypt.
