Description
Informal group portrait of Australian Camel Corps Reinforcements (including the 8th), on a wharf at Port Melbourne prior to boarding HMAT Boorara (A42). Identified are, front row left (holding the small flag): 3010 Private (Pte) William James 'Jim' Wilson whose initials 'WJW' have been printed on his hat and on its puggaree; and front row centre: 2888 Pte James Cooper (holding his kitbag). Pte Cooper died of sickness on 7 November 1918 and is buried in Syria. Two other kitbags show the names of men who are probably in this group. They are: 2897 Pte Francis James Dwyer and 2943 Pte Cecil Robert Seymour Murray.
