Members of the 25th and 26th Reinforcements, 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment prior to boarding HMAT Boorara (A42). Many of them are wearing wallaby fur puggarees on their slouch hats. The second trooper to the right of, and diagonally behind the sergeant on the far left of the front row, is an Aboriginal serviceman, 3254 Trooper (Tpr) Matthew Revenew (alias of Thomas Williams), of Coonabarabran, NSW. On 5 January 1916, 1271 Private Thomas Williams enlisted in the 33rd Battalion, and was passed fit for active service. On 15 April 1916 he was discharged. He re-enlisted in the Light Horse as Tpr Matthew Revenew on 24 July 1916, and embarked on HMAT Boorara on 10 May 1917.
