Josiah Barnes collection of First World War negatives and prints
Description
Australian Army Nurses prior to boarding HMAT Kyarra (A55). All are unidentified except Staff Nurse (SN) Bessie Perry of Carlton, Victoria, who is one of the group at far left and identified by her suitcase. SN Perry, aged 29 at enlistment, disembarked at Bombay India on 6 October 1917 where she served in various British Army hospitals. She was promoted to Sister and returned to Australia on 1 October 1919.
