Description
Outdoor portrait of Captain Ivie Blezard, Officer Commanding D Company, 7th Battalion holding a dog at the Broadmeadows Camp, Victoria. A 36 year old town clerk from Moama, NSW prior to being appointed a Captain in the AIF on 29 August 1914, he embarked for overseas with H Company from Melbourne on 19 October 1914 aboard HMAT Hororata (A20). After arriving in Egypt, he was promoted to Major on 1 February 1915 and then was wounded in action during the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. He received medical treatment in Egypt before being returned to Australia where his appointment was terminated on 16 February 1916.
