London, England. June 1919. Photostat Room of the Australian War Records Section with maps hanging over a line to dry. This apparatus was installed to enable the Section quickly to copy war diaries and other documents. The photograph was taken as the morning shift was handing over to the afternoon shift. Each shift consists of an operator and two assistants, the latter generally being civilians.
