Clear glass bottle mosquito repellent. A paper label on the front, printed in blue, reads '4 Fl.Ounces/ MOSQUITO REPELLENT LOTION/ Rub thoroughly all over exposed parts at sunset: repeat every three hours if exposed. Keep out of eyes./ WARNING: do not allow contact with plastic material, such as unbreakable watch glasses, etc./ RETURN BOTTLE/ D (broad arrow) D AUSTRALIA M'. The base of the bottle has 'JOHNSON & JOHNSON' moulded into the glass. The bottle has a metal screw cap and is half full. The top of the label is marked in idelible pencil 'FENTON'.

History / Summary

This insect repellent is associated with the service in New Guinea of VX110638 Sergeant Desmond William Fenton, from Kerang, Victoria. He enlisted from the Adelaide River in the Northern Territory, in June 1942, while serving with the militia (service number V9051) and was assigned to 2/1 Topographical Survey Company. Fenton was discharged on 28 November 1945.
