History / Summary
Arthur John Turnbull, a 34 year old repairer with the Victorian Railways, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 19 June 1915. He joined 8 Light Horse Regiment with the service number 1277 and the rank of private. He embarked with the 10th Reinforcements on 9 September aboard HMAT Ballarat. He served with the Regiment for the remainder of the war and was promoted to Lance Corporal. He was Mentioned in Despatches in 1918 and embarked for return to Australia on 4 March 1919.
