Description
Portrait of 410410 Flying Officer (FO) (later Flight Lieutenant, (Flt Lt)), Thomas Ormond Dickinson (left), of Essendon, Vic, and 410299 FO Dudley (Dud) Victor Black (right), of Coburg, Vic, at 3 Military District, Royal Canadian Air Force, Edon. The pair enlisted together at Melbourne, Vic, on 6 December 1941. FO Black was posted to 467 Squadron, RAAF, on 10 June 1944 as a navigator and was presumed killed (along with the entire crew of Lancaster LM552), whilst on a training flight over the Irish Sea on the night of 11/12 June 1944. Two other Australian crew members, 423017 FO Douglas George Ledsam, Bomb Aimer and 421721 Flight Sergeant James Iron Gamble, Wireless Operator were also lost on this flight.
