Group portrait outside a war service depot
Description
As part of the civilian war effort, activities such as salvaging scrap metal and other recyclable material were organised in many towns and cities. Robert Potter, a veteran of the First World War, assisted with one such group in Victoria. The men and boys stand outside a War Service Depot, clustered on a truck loaded with collected material. Identified are Robert Potter (standing right in suit); Peter Potter (on Robert's right); Bobby Potter (standing in front in overalls). Robert Potter also served as a Major in the 8th Battalion, Volunteer Defence Corps, during the Second World War.
