Storage box and spare parts : EM 34 Stereoscopic Range Finder
Green painted pine and plywood box, of dove tailed construction, with a hinged lid and two lockable brass clasps. The box is designed to store the EM 34 range finder and attendant parts, and is partitioned inside with grey felt buffering to all the support profiles and contact points. Apart from the range finder and adjusting lath, there are a number of spare and ancilliary parts present. These include a slide-on tubular lighting system in black steel, which is connected to a grey steel battery box via rubber cabling and a leather support strap. A 2 volt K1G battery is included for the lighting system. Also present are: two black eye piece covers; six spare lamp globes; a threaded steel rod handle; a circular stainless steel threaded lug with scalloped edges; a yellow polishing cloth in a green pouch with two brown press studs; two cone shaped steel rain covers; and three small brass keys with the letter 'Z' in the centre. There is also a bent piece of 'U' shaped steel rod and a hooked steel belt loop that do not appear to be original items.
Unknown. The EM 34 range finder was used by German machine gun, mortar and some artillery units during the Second World War.
