No 7 Mk I Bomb Tail Fin
Description
No 7 Mk 1 tail fin for high explosive and general purpose bombs. The tail assembly consists of a mild steel cone which fits over the base plate of a bomb casing and is secured to it by four spring clips. Four vanes are rivetted to the cone and a cylinder is rivetted to the vanes. The taul fin is painted a light green. Markings - No 7 I.
History / Summary
The No 7 Mk 1 tail fin was used on 250 lb and 500 lb general purpose and high explosive bombs by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force during the first half of the Second World War on ground attack and bomber aircraft.
