Peace is in your hands
Description
A peace dove made of paper being released from a pair of cupped hands against a simplified landscape background. It uses universal imagery that has a long symbolic history to make its point. The poster was published in 2003 during the Second Gulf War and is an exhortation to the general public reminding them of their responsibilites and rights, as opposed to the decisions and actions of politicians taken in the public's name. A version of this poster was first issued by the artist in New Zealand in 1983 to protest against the sinking of the Greenpeace ship 'Rainbow warrior', which was attacked by the French in retaliation for protests against their resumption of nuclear testing in the Pacific.
