Studio portrait of 304 Private Fred Tyrrell, 16th Battalion, of Perth, WA, (originally of Buckingham, England). Prior to enlistment on 13 September 1914, Tyrrell worked on the goldfields at Kalgoorlie and Leonora. He was killed in action on 2 May 1915 at Bloody Angle on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
