Full dress sword belt : Volunteer infantry staff officer, Colony of Victoria
Description
Red morocco leather sword belt, 41 mm wide, with silver bullion lace, for a volunteer officer, facing in the infantry pattern, fitted with a silver clasp showing a crowned gilt lion over a Queen Victoria crown. The belt is fitted with a pair of 22 mm wide sword slings of red leather, similarly faced with silver lace. The shorter (355mm long) forward sling sits over a half circle of leather, designed to prevent wear on uniform, while the longer (625 mm long) sling can slide along the belt, allowing adjustment. The manufacturer's details are stamped in gold inside the belt, as well as 'IMPORTER / A. BOWLEY MELB'.
