Description

A British DH9 two seater biplane bomber at an unidentified airfield. First flown in 1917 the Airco de Havilland DH9 was designed to be one of Britain's first strategic bombers, however results were disappointing due largely to the aircraft's underpowered Puma engine. Despite this, more than 3,000 were produced and they saw widespread service during the First World War. The type also served with many other air forces and private airlines during the 1920s.
