Description

Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) Guy Darcy Davney Macarthur, Headquarters, 13th Battalion, of Broadmeadows, Vic. A grazier prior to enlisting on 1 December 1914, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses on 22 December 1914. Lt Macarthur died of illness, paratyphoid, on 25 December 1915, in Egypt, aged 22 years. He was a descendant of Phillip Gidley King, Third Governor of NSW, one of over 50 whom served in the First World War.
