A rough timber cross in high grass marks the original grave of NX46541 Lance Corporal Ernest Grenenger Brown, 2/1 Battalion, who was killed in action in New Guinea on 20 November 1942, aged 33 years. The grave cross was also used as a telephone post, evident by the three lines of cable strung over it.
