Description

Double breasted black wool greatcoat. The coat has a four button front closure with gilt, shanked domed buttons. The knee length coat has a central back box pleat. The pleat is joined behind the back short belt. At the end of the pleat is a two buttoned vent. The collar is stand and fall with wide lapels. The coat has two front hip pockets and one concealed inside breast pocket. The coat and sleeves are fully lined with a black polished cotton twill fabric.

History / Summary

Marjorie Greer was born on 3 May 1920 in Auburn, New South Wales, to Charles William and Elsie Gladys Greer. She reported for duty at HMAS Harman Wireless Telegraph Station, Canberra, ACT on 25 May 1943. By August that year, she had advanced to Telegraphist. She was passed for W/T3 in February 1944, and advanced to Leading Telegraphist. Greer was described as having 'very good' character and 'above average' efficiency. Her appointment with the RAN ended on 4 February 1946.
