McInerney speaks of accompanying the 9th Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment (9 RAR) to South Vietnam on board HMAS Sydney, November 1968; personal safety in South Vietnam; a bombing run in an F4 Phantom jet; a river patrol; being ambushed and wounded with United States 3rd Marine Division; having Horst Faas as his mentor; the aims and objectives of his work; the suffering of the Vietnamese people; drug-taking amongst some United States cameramen.
