Turkish Prisoner of War beadwork purse : Masseur E C Lowe and Lieutenant W L Lamrock
Description
Black and white hand made latice netting beaded bag or purse, with discoloured cream coloured cotton lining. The design of the beads creates a diamond pattern in horizontal bands of black and then white beads. The opening of the bag has a reinforced loomwork band which is decorated with the words 'TURKISH' and 'PRISONERS' in white beads on either side, with a black bead background. This is overlapped with two triangular sections of latice netting beadwork that has dark coloured cotton tassles at the end of each section. The bag can be carried by a three strand twisted black and white threaded strap, with the lower edge decorated with black and white bead fringing.
