Portrait of Thabet Subeih, a Yemeni national, who was born in Bombay, India, around 1878-1880. A 35 year old tea and coffee merchant of Fremantle, WA, he enlisted in the AIF on 19 October 1915. He served under the surname 'Suby' and was assigned the rank of Private and the service number 3937. On 12 February 1916 he embarked on HMAT Miltiades with the 9th Reinforcements, 28th Battalion. He returned to Australia on 17 March 1917.
