Description
Andrew Te'e (front), Commander of the Isatabu Freedom Movement (IFM), with two unidentified supporters, guarding a checkpoint on the outskirts of Honiara during the June 2000 attempted coup. The IFM consisted of militants from Guadalcanal, who resented what they perceived as increasing Malaitan dominance of the Solomon Islands government and of the island of Guadalcanal. Andrew Te'e is a relative and rival of fellow Guadalcanal militant Harold Keke. In August 2003, following the arrival of the multinational Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) on 24 July, Te'e agreed that the IFM would surrender their weapons. Australian troops were operating under Operation Anode. On 8 December 2003, Andrew Te'e was arrested by RAMSI police forces, and charged with three counts of murder.
