Description

A signboard illustrates the concepts of King Tore's 666 Movement, operating near Sovele, Nagovis district, Bougainville. On the board there are many images of Christianity, including the 'Holy Baibol' (bible), and references to 'KOMANMENT' [Ten Commandments], as well as traditional images. Kastom (custom or tradition) and cult movements have flourished on Bougainville since the arrival of Europeans. These movements have played a pivotal but largely unrecognised role throughout the civil war in Bougainville.
