Studio portrait of Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Henry Thomas 'Jack' Harwood, the Regimental ...
Studio portrait of Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Henry Thomas 'Jack' Harwood, the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), (previously the 67th Battalion). WO1 Harwood, who has waxed his moustache for the portrait, had a long career in the army. WO1 Harwood’s ribbon bars indicate that he served in the First World War (in the British Army), and in the Australian Army in the Second World War. The portrait was taken during WO1 Harwood’s service with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) in Japan. His name also appears on the Nominal Roll of Australian Veterans of the Korean War as he made one visit to 3RAR in Korea, late in 1950. He was in the line overnight with A Company and participated in a retaliatary action after they were fired upon by enemy artillery.
