Informal portrait of 704 Trooper Eric Stanley Watson, 5th Australian Light Horse Regiment, with his chestnut gelding in the camp horse lines. A baker of Sydney, NSW, he enlisted on 11 December 1914 sailing aboard HMAT Vestalia with the 1st Reinforcements on 19 December 1914. He died of wounds at sea, aged 26, on 26 May 1915 and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula.
