Description

Australian Army Mounted Service pattern khaki woollen cord breeches. A pocket with a diagonal slit opening has been let into the front of both hips. The six buttons on the waistband and five smaller ones on the concealed fly are made from brown plastic. One of the buttons on the left side of the waistband at the front is a replacement. It is impressed with 'COMMONWEALTH and a king's crown. Protective chevron patterned panels of woollen cord fabric have been sewn onto both inner legs. There is a row of 11 pairs of brown metal eyelets on the outside of both leg cuffs but the laces are missing. The bottom edge of both leg cuffs are trimmed with lighter coloured khaki cotton fabric. 'AUSTRALIA', '1917' and 'X9' have been stamped inside the back of the waistband. There is a partial circular purple stamped mark on the front of the lining of the right pocket. The waistband is lined with khaki cotton twill and unbleached linen.
